In the 1930s Granddad "Didgy"TM worked in the east Texas Humble oil fields
where barbecue was the town staple. He created a barbecue sauce
over the years at the many town barbecues and cookoffs with a lot of
help from his friends. It is tangy and full of zest, with a
delectable, spicy aroma and taste you won't forget! Use the sauce
to baste in the pit or on the grill and for dipping. Serve warm, without boiling. It's ideal for chicken, pork,
sausage, and fish. Use as a marinade too!

Barbecue Sauce Barbecue
Chicken on the Can Rack You
will need a chicken rack in which a soda size can is held in the middle
and the chicken may sit upright over the can, available at kitchen
supply stores. Select your can beverage,
beer or lemon lime soda, and put a ½ full can in the rack. Place the whole chicken on the rack, neck up,
and put a potato in the neck. Barbecue
slowly with your favorite charcoal or mesquite brickets, or other pit
favorite, for about 1 and ½ hours, basting often with Didgy’sTM
Barbecue Sauce. Hint: using a pan with a little water in which the
rack stands reduces flares. Serve
with a baked potato or grilled corn on the cob, together with your
favorite salad greens. Keep
a warm bowl of sauce at the table!
